Help With Your Cancer Battle Plan To Complement The Care You Are Receiving From Your Doctors

Whereas I offer state-of-the-art guidance for patients who deeply desire an aggressive nutritional component to their cancer battle plan I also offer PALLIATIVE NUTRITIONAL THERAPY (that focuses on powerfully reducing nausea,  pain/inflammation, improving appetite, digestion and reducing gastrointestinal symptoms, increasing muscle mass, improving various lab tests values--such as serum albumin and improving energy level and sleep quality as much as possible.) These changes can profoundly improve a patient's quality of life.

AGGRESSIVE FUNCTIONAL MEDICAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPY AS A POWERFUL PART OF YOUR CANCER BATTLE PLAN

Many people have beat cancer!  I offer FUNCTIONAL MEDICAL NUTRITION and mind-body techniques to help support immune function, a healthy weight, appetite and quality of life, as well as reduce risk of recurrences in patients who are battling cancer, while also addressing the sum total of health issues that affect their physical and mental wellness.

The nutritional programs I create for my patients who have received a diagnosis of cancer are highly individualized and designed to complement the therapies they are receiving from their medical team. When patients consult me I review with them their medical history, explore & identify possible degenerative pathways of the body (roots of the disease process) and work to remove these factors as barriers to wellness.

My roles as a team member assisting patients who have received a diagnosis of cancer are to:

(1) Help educate them about how nutritional therapy can complement and improve the success of various treatment options and empower them to go forth with more confidence that they will make the best choice given their particular situation.

The nutritional programs I design for my patients who have received a diagnosis of cancer are designed to complement other therapies but are not offered as cancer therapy.

(2) My second role in helping patients who have received a diagnosis of cancer is to review their medical history, explore and identify possible degenerative pathways of the body (roots of the disease process), and work to remove these factors as barriers to wellness.

These factors create imbalances in the fundamental controls of the body:

  • Improper food choices
  • Improper ratios of protein, fat and carbohydrate
  • Incorrect balance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids
  • Chemical exposure
  • Genetic pre-disposition, gene mutations
  • Methylation

Fundamental controls of the body include:

  • Imbalances in the autonomic nervous system
  • Electrolytes
  • Prostaglandins
  • Alkaline-acidity
  • The carbo-oxidative systems
  • Lipo-oxidative system

Disturbances in these fundamental homeostatic controls result in metabolic dysfunction, namely metabolism inefficiency of protein, fat or carbohydrate, and other metabolic inefficiencies.
These metabolic dysfunctions result in subclinical health complaints, such as:

  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Indigestion
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Constipation
  • Aches/pain
  • Feeling general malaise
  • Frequent illness, and low energy

These subclinical health complaints often eventually result in chronic degenerative diseases, such as:

  • Arthritis/Joint and Connective Tissue Damage
  • Diabetes
  • Colitis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibroid Tumors
  • Heart disease
  • Sometimes even cancer

Just a few nutritional strategies to help patients, naturally, improve digestion, detoxification pathways, immune function, cell membrane structure, and make the body a less hospitable place for cancer cells include:

  • Proper macronutrient ratio/balance of protein, fat and carbohydrate
  • Vitamin and mineral balance
  • Help identifying  and substituting for allergenic/sensitizing foods
  • High quality, pure water
  • Customized meal plans and menus plus strategies for eating healthy meals and snacks when energy is low
  • Botanical extracts, herbs and phytonutrients

My best advice to a patient with cancer is to find a supportive friend or family member to help encourage you nad to be your confidant.

Next, while collecting information and interviewing physicians to help you on your journey with cancer, take a first step to improving your nutritional status and rid your diet and physical environment of as many cancer-risk increasing agents as possible.

Get rid of acid-forming liquids, such as coffee, tea, soft drinks as well as sugar and dairy products, hydrogenated fats (damaged, oxidized fats).

Reducing consumption of gluten-containing grains and dairy products will help reduce inflammation.
Choose more organic foods when possible. Avoid processed foods!

Avoid as many personal care products and toiletries that contain chemicals as possible. It may be  especially important to avoid chemicals that function as detergents, parabens and triclosan. Women  who have hormone-sensitive cancers or men with prostate cancer should be especially careful to avoid chemicals with estrogen-like activity in the body. Detergents are to be avoided. They have a strong estrogen-like action in the body. Substitute castile soap, etc. and wash clothes in 20 Mule Team Borax and Arm and Hammer washing soda (1/2 cup each per load).

Developing highly-individualized nutritional programs to complement the work you are doing with the oncologist or other physician is available through my private practice.  Nutrition programs for patients who have received a diagnosis of cancer will receive an in-depth medical history/interview and a review of mechanisms that may underlie immune system dysfunction,

Review of mechanisms that may underlie immune system dysfunction includes but is not limited to:

Chronic systemic inflammation

  • Chronic systemic inflammation
  • Dysfunctional bio-detoxification pathways
  • Heavy metal accumulation
  • Chronic yeast overgrowth (candida albicans syndrome)
  • Acidosis
  • Poor antioxidant function
  • Parasitic presence and solvent accumulation
  • Gingivitis/gum disease
  • Cell membrane dysfunction
  • Geopathic stress
  • Radiation
  • Toxic emotions, etc.

Address challenges of blood glucose balance, quality sleep, food allergy/intolerances/sensitivities, digestion, hormonal balance, neurotransmitter balance, circulation, respiration, nervous system function and energy production.

  • How to find the highest quality of water, how much to drink and when to drink it.
  • Dietary guidelines for reducing inflammation, maximizing antioxidant intake, phytonutrients and optimizing essential fatty acids
  • Creation of highly individualized meal plan and dietary guidelines
  • Exploration of nutritional therapy for encouraging normal immune function, increasing apoptosis and for encouraging normal cell-to-cell communication.
  • Exploration of nutritional guidelines for optimizing thyroid function (Important in Normal Immune Function)
  • Development of a Highly-Individualized Bio-Detoxification Program
  • Recommendations for functional medicine testing which may provide additional helpful information.
  • Caring support and nutritional follow-up throughout a patient’s journey with cancer.

I invite you to call for more information about a highly individualized nutritional program to complement the care you are receiving from your physician(s), our 12 Week Health Transformation Program: 205.915.0474.  The fee is $350 for 12 weeks of care (the initial session - usually 1-1/2 to 2 hours plus eleven 20- to 30-minute weekly follow-up sessions).
